Last, but most definitely not least, is the Bank of England gold Vault. Hosting the second largest store of gold to the Federal Reserve Bank of New York, this bombproof gold vault is neigh impenetrable. Not only is it located well below ground (an exact number of feet is not provided), the gold vault has an immense amount of floor space (more than the London Tower), and is protected by an incredibly advanced security system involving voice recognition systems, cameras, motion detection devices, and of course incredible thick doors and extra large keys!

Located over a hundred feet below the surface of the earth, the WikiLeaks servers are located in an old nuclear bunker and is an absolute fortress for the precious computers and data within it. Not only are there an ample amount of protection from any governments, but WikiLeaks is actually with Bahnhof – a Swedish internet service provider that owns the bunker in which the servers are held.

With backup generators galore protecting from any power loss, and thick steel doors protecting from any physical damage, the Bahnhof servers and the WikiLeaks bunker located below Stockholm is indeed one of the most protected shelters available and a worthy place for WikiLeaks to host their data!

With world class security that helps transport the President of the United States in the famous Boeing 747 aircraft, is a very secure and very mobile location. It is a modified Boeing 747-200B aircraft and it’s express use is to transport the Commander in Chief.

The term Air Force One is actually a call signal that was established in 1953 when it carried President Eisenhower. Since then, Air Force One has been made the official air traffic sign for the aircraft carrying the president and, as you can imagine, is one of the most heavily modified and guarded planes on the planet.

You’ve probably heard more than enough stories about Area 51, and seen some dramatizations on Hollywood screens portraying some of the so called myths and legends about this secret area. Despite being central to a myriad of alien stories and others seemingly straight from sci-fi books, this is actually an incredibly secure location. Area 51 features a remote desert location, and is protected from peeping eyes above thanks to the no fly restrictions put in place.

This area is supposedly an experimental test site for aircraft and contains a base that is guarded and protected by buried motion detectors and more. Good luck getting anywhere near Area 51!

The Administrative Maximum Facility, aka ADX, is the top security prison located in Colorado that is often termed the Alcatraz of the Rockies. If someone is unlucky enough to be sent to the ADX Florence Prison, you can safely bet that they won’t be getting out anytime soon thanks to the pack of trained attack dogs, fleet of guards, and razor wire fences. There is also almost 1.5k steel doors operating in the facility and a myriad of motion detectors and cameras ensuring that not a single prisoner sets a toe out of line without someone being immediately alerted! This bank is definitely the most elite in the world. It contains twenty-five percent of the world’s gold, which equates to around $270 billion, and holds all of the gold bullion in a bunker eighty feet below ground. Despite being located in New York, this bank is not owned or operated by the United States government. In fact, it doesn’t even primarily hold US gold; around 98% of the gold in this highly secured bank is foreign stock and is kept there because of the phenomenal security features set aside to protect it. These security features include far more than just a ninety ton steel door and a highly trained set of guards, but it’s not something you’ll likely learn more about!

4. The Mormon Church’s Secret vaults

Located in Granite Mountain (Utah), this vault said to be located around six hundred feet into the side of the mountains and is used as storage for records. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints claims to hold over three billion images. These images are said to be of various genealogical records, immigration papers, and more that are all archived in a climate controlled and heavily guarded vault buried well beneath the mountain. Aside from its incredibly naturally secure location, this vault is also protected by a fourteen ton door that is able to withstand nuclear blasts!

While a giant seed vault making it to the third most protected place on the planet may seem somewhat laughable, it’s not a joke. This vault was created in a place that is impossible to reach by man alone and was built to hold millions of crop seeds. Now with over two hundred and fifty million seeds in it, it stands waiting on an island in the North Sea – prepared to supply mankind with the ability to stay alive in the event of an apocalyptic disaster. The vault doesn’t seem to contain anything that anyone would want to steal now, but its incredibly thick walls and secure location make for the perfect protection should some crazy sci-fi scenario come to fruition.

Built back during the Cold War, Cheyenne Mountain is a nuclear bunker located in the Front Range Rocky Mountains in Colorado. It was originally the central command center for NORAD, the North American Aerospace Defense Command, however that has since been moved. Despite NORAD’s relocation, the Cheyenne Mountain nuclear bunker remains one of the most secure places in the entire world.

Granite walls with reinforced steel protect the tunnel leading into the mountain. Additionally there are also EMP resistant buildings, and an entire mountain protecting the bunker from a nuclear attack. Suffice to say that the fences, guards, and complex gates are just a few of the other security measures put in place to protect this location.

Located in Fort Knox, Kentucky, the United States Bullion Depository (also referred to just as fort Knox), is considered the most secure vault in the world. It contains the gold reserves for the United States which is estimated to be just over five thousand tons worth! While this official depository doesn’t hold as much as the Federal Reserve Bank of New York, which is estimated to contain around seven thousand seven hundred tons and is also on our list of top ten most protected places, it is truly worthy of being first on our list.

The Fort Knox vault is protected by four different fences, various armed guards, video cameras, four foot thick walls with reinforced steel rods, and a twenty-two ton vault door to boot. On top of that Fort Knox also is a military camp so you’ll have around thirty thousand highly trained soldiers available to rain down a hell storm as you step out of the vault!
